The Journalism Education Association of New Zealand is pleased to call for contributions to its annual conference, to be held at Auckland University of Technology on December 5-6, 2024.

Please register  for the conference by emailing Greg Treadwell – gregory.treadwell@aut.ac.nz

    Conference Theme: Reinforcing communities

Aotearoa New Zealand communities need to be connected and informed to be resilient. Research shows a sense of local connection strengthens news trust. As climate change bites, news deserts grow and destructive disinformation circulates online, what risks are we taking with our communities?

    Keynote speakers for AUT conference

JEANZ Is delighted to announce our two keynote speakers at the 2024 conference in Auckland/Tāmaki Makarau. Professor Susan Forde, director of the Griffith Centre for Social and Cultural Research, and Professor of Journalism at Griffith University, will deliver the opening address.

Susan is the author of Challenging the News: The Journalism of Alternative and Community Media. Professor Juliane Lischka, Professor of Digital Journalism at the University of Hamburg, whose recent research examines the skills editors are looking for in journalists today, will close the formal part of the conference.
