Jeanz Conference 2004
Maori/Pacific Islands Student Scholarship: Application Guidelines
During the annual conference of JEANZ held in New Plymouth on December 4-5, 2003, suggestions were made for the need to promote academic research among Maori and Pacific Island students.
Committee members unanimously agreed to introduce two $300 scholarships to contribute to travel costs for two current fulltime journalism/media studies students of Maori and/or Pacific Islands descent interested in presenting an academic paper at JEANZ's annual conference, commencing 2004.
Funding for the two scholarships is provided by Massey University's Department of Communication and Journalism and the Waiariki Institute of Technology's School of Maori Studies, Journalism, Fashion, Art & Design.
Assessment of the scholarship applications is administrated by JEANZ executive committee members.
Applications for the first two scholarships should be completed and posted or emailed to JEANZ Vice President Charles Riddle by August 31, 2004. Applications must be supported by two referees, at least one of them a fulltime academic staff member at the institution where the student is studying.
Recipients of the two scholarships will be notified by the Vice President. They will be asked to confirm or refuse the scholarship by October 1, 2004.
